Vision for the future?

OUR VISION

In essence, PPR Education programs are about making changes from within public schools that are hugely under-resourced and carry the bulk of the burden of education in South Africa. It is about formalizing society’s contribution to fill the space in public schools where existing formal structures are unable to do so effectively. Hence PPR’s role will evolve with time but for now our vision for the next 5 to 10 years period is as follows.

OUR MISSION STATEMENTS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

 

 

  • Set up a Help Desk in every public school in the country that offers voluntary assistance to teachers and learners to become better.
  • Shift the culture of public schools to become focused on education, especially Maths and Science in high schools ( since that's when learners reach crunch time and where they need help the most.)
  • Equip every teacher with use of technology to teach better. To create vital support structure by creating partnerships with other teachers teaching the same subjects in other schools.
  • Shift from current system where teachers are the sole provider of knowledge to a system that equips learners to educate themselves with teachers performing a supporting role like a mentor.

  • Make businesses operating near the school take an active interest and become partners to develop the school. And by so doing reduce the social ills that plague that community.
  • Create and manage a system of recognition and rewards by corporates that motivates teachers to become better teachers
  • Make teaching not just the job of teachers but of every educated person. Hence create and manage a system that makes it easy and convenient for every educated person to devote an hour to teach a learner. Make educating a child as convenient and as engaging as spending an hour on social media.
  • Set up PPR Center in every district that:
  • Monitors and manages all schools in the area
  • A center that takes learners who pass matric from partnering schools and trains them to be tutors to teach in their school or another school in their community for a year. After a year as tutor, help tutors to set up a tutorial business for themselves.
  • Provides a platform for schools in the neighborhood to meet on a regular basis and strengthen their partnerships.
  • Offer career guidance for learners, as well as run a mentorship program.
